Blue Star have made a very promising start with their pre-season campaign, winning the majority of their games comfortably. One thing that has been confirmed from these matches is that Blue Star football team houses a lot of young, ambitious talent that are hungry for success.

The last fixture saw the start of Blue Stars historic move to Kingston Park, and in a dramatic fashion Blue Star took on none other than a strong Newcastle United side featuring toon favourites Owen, Dyer, Ameobi, and new boy Cacapa. Blue Star put in a huge performance and were very unlucky not to get on the scoreboard - even been denied by the cross bar on one occasion.

However, their solid playing ability didn't go un-noticed, impressing many people including Uniteds Shola Ameobi who later told The Chronicle "Blue Star equipped themselves very well and they were hard to break down. I didn't think it would be as tough as it was, but it just shows you it is a big game for these lads. They did themselves proud and good luck to them for the new season."

Blue Star gave the whole squad a run out, which proved the strength and depth of the team. Director of football Bob Morton then summed up the night nicely "It was a great night and sets us up nicely for the UniBond League. We had a good crowd of 3,600 here at Kingston Park and although a lot of them turned up to see Michael Owen, they know now that there is an ambitous non-league club here. And during the season we look forward to welcoming them back."

Blue Star are next in action at Kingston Park on Wednesday 22nd August against Wakefield FC, kick off 7.45pm. Tickets are prioced at: Adult £5, Concession £3, Junior £1 and are available from the Kingston Park ticket office open Mon - Sat from 9am until 5pm. The ticket hotline number is 0871 226 6060.
