Clitheroe V Blue Star

It just gets better and better for manager Paul Baker and Newcastle Blue Star who extended their winning sequence to five matches in the UniBond Division One North league match away at Clitheroe on Saturday.

Former Gretna striker and Blue Star’s leading goal scorer Lee Novak slotted in his 22nd goal of the season after just ten minutes. But, on the stroke of half time Clitheroe’s Anthony Johnson equalised against the run of play.

Bakers team quickly hit back courtesy of Midfielder Neal Hooks. But for the second time in the game Blue Star were caught on the break when a minute later Clitheroe equalised via Johnson getting his second of the game, neatly lobbing keeper Lowson.

However, in the 93rd minute with just seconds to go Blue Star again displayed their ability to fight to the end and were rewarded as Dean Gordon struck the winning goal straight from a free kick to win 3-2.
