Newcastle Blue Star Vs Chorley
Blue Star remain unbeaten at their new Kingston Park home with a huge 5-3 victory over Chorley. Cassidys men took the lead after just two minutes through Mark McCleod, who beat Chorley keeper Phil Preistley easily with a firm header.
Eddie Stanford and Stuart Howson went close for Chorley before Kenny Mayers forced home from a James Holdoes corner. However, Star deservedly regained the lead in an action-packed start as Phil Bell flicked home from a Ben Pringle corner. Chorley, who looked quite vunerable at the back through-out the full 90 minutes were further punished when Phil Bell headed home his second and put the Star 3-1 up at half time.
Blue Star vitually made the game safe when they increased the lead nine minutes after the restart when Bell completed his hat-trick with a close-range header from a David McTiernan corner. McCleod then got his second goal as he took Blue Star up to a 5-1 lead with a first-time volley from the egde of the box.
Phil Bell and Lee Novak got taken off due to injury which shook Blue Star up and allowed substitute Jordan Goodeve to pull a goal back for Chorley before Stephen Burke added another in injury time to add some late respectibility.
