Blue Star Vs Bradford Park Avenue

In the UniBond Challenge Cup Newcastle Blue Star played host to Bradford Park Avenue, and after a lightening start from the visitors Star found themselves 1-0 down after just 50 seconds with a strike from Avenue player Chris Gaghan!

But Star quickly pulled themselves together & started to play fluid football. They got their pay-off half way through the first half when Leon Scott struck the ball neatly into the back of the net.

The second half was a true cup battle with both teams desperate to score the winner, but alas neither team could close down the game during the 90 minutes. The first half of extra time also came and went with plenty of action, lots of tired legs, but still no goal and then in the second half of extra time in the 108th minute to be exact Phil Bell struck home the winner.

2-1 to the Star and on to the next round of the UniBond Challenge Cup where they take on local rivals Gateshead.
