Newcastle Blue Star Vs Woodley Sports

This game was an FA Trophy replay following the 1-1 draw at Woodley Sports on Saturday. Blue star started very brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute through Lee Novak when he pounced on a mistake by the Woodley keeper and chipped the ball over the keeper and into an empty net.

The match then turned into a 'real' cup tie with both teams striving to score. Blue Star hit the woodwork twice and then just after half time Woodley also hit the bar. The second half was dominated by the defences of both teams with Chris Carr outstanding at the heart of the Star defence.

As the match got into the closing stages, especially with Star’s record of conceding late goals the home fans were glad to hear the final whistle and started to look forward to a trip to Colwyn Bay in the next round.
