Rossendale United Vs Blue Star
Rossendale kept up their recent run of good results with a hard-fought win at Dark Lane as Blue Star captain Chris Carr's early error proved costly. Possession wise Blue Star were on top throughout the entire game. However, it was a game where the windy conditions dictated the play with the home side having the better of the opening 45 minutes, whilst Blue Star dominated the second half.
Rossendale set off brightly and got what proved to be the winning goal just ten minutes into the game. Ben Callon put in a cross from the right hand side and Chris Carr headed the ball into his own net at the near post.
Phil Eastwood twice went close to adding to the lead before the break but it was a superb defensive display in the second half which earned the home side the three points.
Despite dominating possession the visitors were kept down to just two efforts of note, both from Scott Bell. The first was superbly saved by Lee Bracey and his second hit the right hand post.
Rossendale could have added a second on the break near the end as Eastwood forced a save from Dan Lowson, but the early goal proved to be just enough.
