Newcastle Blue Star Vs Ossett Albion
Blue Star came from a goal down to win convincingly, maintain their unbeaten home record, and move up 2 places in the table.
With Chris Carr suspended, David McTiernan dropped, and Ben Webster injured manager Tommy Cassidy made changes, moving Lee Andrews to right back and Steve Birks alongside Joey Kendrick into the heart of the defence.
We almost opened the scoring with Chris Emms having a shot on target, followed by Scott Bells low drive which hit the foot of the post. But, it was however Ossett who opened the scoring 2 minutes later when Jon Impey crossed for David Sayers to head in his fourth goal of the season.
Only three minutes later Star equalised when Lee Andrews crossed from the left and, at the second attempt, Lee Novak forced the ball in from four yards.
On 56 minutes, Blue Star took the lead from a sloppy mistake. Impey hit a free-kick straight to Novak and, with the keeper out of position Novak simply side-footed the ball into the empty net.
Deep into injury time, with Albion seeking an equaliser and even keeper Neil Bennett up for a corner, Star broke away for sub Wayne Gordon to set up Novak for his 12th of the season and hat-trick of the game.
