Bridlington Town Vs Blue Star
Blue Star finished with a convincing 4-0 victory over Bridlington Town away from home. The tabloids screamed;
“A lesson in finishing from the Geordies as Bridlington paid for missed chances.”
Strikers Scott Bell and Lee Novak shared the first-half tally, with the former notching a simple first and then racing clear of a static home defence on 34 minutes, before Novak added a similar third.
Town pressed hard and both Tom Greaves and Wayne Harratt tested the visiting goalkeeper, Ryan Smith before the break.
After half time the Star appeared content to sit on their lead, although Town wide-man Phil Harrison clipped a superb 20-yarder inches over the bar.
But, Blue Star banged a late nail into Towns coffin with an 88th minute fourth goal as Wayne ‘Flash’ Gordon strode clear to round goalkeeper Mike Clark and slot home to win 4-0 and move up to a 5th place play-off position.
