Blue Star V Bamber Bridge
Blue Star couldn’t have made a better start against a strong Bamber Bridge side who were hoping they would get a win and move up to second in the table. However, the Star put a spanner in the works by scoring two goals within a minute!
Straight from the kick off leading goal scorer Lee Novak improved his goal tally firing into the back of the net after being set up by Chris Emms. Then, Blue Star doubled their lead straight from the re-start as McTiernan also found the back of the Bamber net! What an incredible start!
Keeper Dan Lowson pulled off couple of good saves and remained very solid at the back. It was Blue Star though that kept looking threatening but striker Mark Sheeran just didn’t have lady luck on his side as he missed two good goal scoring opportunities.
Bamber had their best spell of the game just before half time as Lowson was forced to make a ‘fingertip’ save and Leon Scott cleared off the line.
Blue Star came out after half time and dominated the rest of the game. Mark Sheeran missed another goal scoring opportunity set up by Lee Novak and David McTiernan. But, on seventy minutes McTiernan wrapped up the game by slotting home his second of the night passed keeper McCormick
Blue Star played strongly, full of confidence and flair throughout the entire ninety minutes in what was arguably their best performance of the season with a special mention to David McTiernan and Mar Sheeran who looked dangerous and creative going forward and Dan Lowson who was on fire in goal.
